Just implemented the big part of the image overhaul. I uploaded a heap of reasonably high resolution images of Minecraft (that has been in the media a lot lately). You can get the alpha and if you enjoy it buy it over at minecraft.net
it is actually a fun multi-player game as well. Since Ryan and Nathan ditched me with Mark we played a decent game. Although I didn't realize I hadn't actually turned on the enemies so the entire game was really stressful for no reason.
Quick overview, Minecraft is essentially about mining and crafting. But the overall addictiveness of this 'game' is that you can build some really quite amazing things. Looking around YouTube I saw entire castle cities, a coliseum (at actual size) and so one... Minecraft according to some people in my animation class can procedurally generate maps that are 10x the land space of the earth that go around 64 tiles above and below water level.
The purpose of this blog is to see how the system takes the new embedded images in blogs system. This is pulling images I've marked as "Blog Images" from the art gallery hosted here on LOR. If you go looking for images in this category, you shouldn't be able to find them other than in the blogs themselves. The category can be found, just not the images. However any images can be embedded using the new format.
Anyone, on with the images!
'Front Door' by OsiJrTook a lot of coal to build this impenetrable fortress. And yes... Thats glass and yeah... The door is made of wood. Shut up okay! I Don't have enough iron to make a metal door :(
'The Kitchen' by OsiJrYep, this was built on the first night. I thought that the furnace was a storage box, hence why I build so many. Was a good use of stone in any case. The chest to the left have several THOUSAND more stone. I should start building a fortress.
'And so begins the descent...' by OsiJrThe descent begins. Although this is the shortest of the ramps, it was the only one that I bothered to screenshot.
Kitchen' by OsiJrIt annoyed me that it took 5 minutes to climb back up to the craft station on the first floor so I cleared out and flattened this depth and built another crafting room here. The glass was to stop me falling to my death on the staircase.
'Bridge Over Troubled Waters' by OsiJrRan into an underground lava flow. Annoying just before this I saw some diamonds but didn't realize I needed at least an iron pick. So no diamonds and instead I bridged the river and mined up the edge to create a 'river' bank. A nice zombie cave showed up. Luckily, there were no zombies.
'Zombie Cave All Growed Up' by OsiJrSince I remembered reading somewhere that zombies cannot spawn in the light. I filled the chasm with torches. I only had 4 left after I spammed them in here, probably a bit excessive but it sure does the trick.
