Nothing to say about anything else and I don't feel like working just yet (still chilling a bit- just got home) + no sleeps so needa rest a bit.
So instead of boring you lots with uncool stuff, I've compiled the video stuff from Portal 2 adverting, mostly found on the valve youtube page and various other youtubey sources. Since I'm really hyped about it now (although broke so won't be able to get it for a while). Hopefully theres no cap on youtube embeds. if there is and its an issue with Valve, happy to take them down as required :)
But yeah, looks amazing, the new physics seems really good and can really see the benefit the "TAG: The Power Of Paint" people had on the game. The fluid dynamics and overall feel of Portal 2 really screams AAA as well, rather then just innovative mod, so very happy about that (I loved Portal, but graphically it lacked a bit) :D

Edit: The game has been recompiled against visual studio 2008. Windows 7 users now don't have to get the runtime.
Note: Its taken me 2 hours to do this blog as internet has gone over limit while I was away. So any errors will be updated in a few days when internet is better.
'Atramentarious Logo 2010' by NazkaA real logo.
'Lewtz For Winning A Category!' by OsiJrYay, we took out a category at the event. "Who Dares Wins 2010" the cup does actually say that, but my camera couldn't pick up that text unless I had flash on, and then the rest of the cup was too bright so have to be like this. It was full of jelly beans too!
To be honest when they were announcing this category I faded out after they announced the runners up and was watching Chen twitter (assuming it was Chen) and when he type "Atrementarious" (sic.) I looked around to see why we were announced =S
Still don't entirely know what the category is? Maybe someone can enlighten me?
So, the 48 Hour is over and no one blogged about it yet. I'm uploading some images at the moment so they can go into the blog =D
I still haven't finished the games page on this site yet, so this will have to do for now.
The Game Made By Atramentarious
That Nathan and I refuse to call "Dinosaur Revenge!! Bar!!!!!!!!!!"
The game can be downloaded here: http://www.loragnarok.com/content/games/48Hr2010/Atramentarious2010.zip
Theres been some patches since the event to try clean up some bugs. Hopefully it works a bit better now, if you have any issues let me know in the comments below.
The controls have been mapped to the keyboard now, but they aren't as good as the controller ones, if you press Start on a controller at the title screen then the game will play using the controller, whereas Enter or Q will start the game using keyboard controls.

'Final Title' by HarkonXWoo, This screen sets the style for the rest of the menu's. As with most of the menu artwork, this was started by Ryan, polished by Nathan and then finalized by Ryan (I think!)
'Menu Screen' by HarkonXThe final menu screen, was buggy on the day, but has been fixed in a way that Will would hate.
'Instructions Screen' by HarkonXThis is the instructions screen, suits the style nicely and explains lots. Pro tips by the way!
'Final Credits' by HarkonXWoo, Credits screen, theres no logical order... Unless its possible the order I submitted us in, in which case its the order we confirmed we were available?
No gameplay images at the moment though as I don't have anyone to play with at home. I'll try upload some later :)
If you find any bugs or errors let us know about that as well!

Sooooo we got the 48hr game making competition coming up this Friday, Saturday & Sunday. I'm quite excited about it actually. Myself, Nathan and Will went into uni today for a talk from microsoft about some of their products that we as students have access to, anyways we went a month earlier (cant believe no one picked that up) and to make the trip worthwhile we went and bought maccas, talked about ideas for 48hr comp and then saw a movie.
We discussed a few ideas, we know the game needs to focus on the three keywords we will be given on the day but its good to get the creative juices flowing anyway.
We discussed some kind of planet game, where the players compete to collect some form of currency by jumping to different worlds. The worlds would have different sizes and different themes. I thought the idea was really cool and if we designed it well around the keywords well within the scope of the competition.
We also discussed making some different styles of puzzle games, like rpg chess, combat tetris and so on. some of the ideas were pretty cool
Finally we talked about some kinda of tower defense/income wars game where u spawn units to fight ur opponents units, meanwhile u shoot down at there units aswell from a tower.
Anywho im outty
I will keep you posted about the games comp

As a long time Warcraft 3 DOTA & HoN fan i couldn't believe my luck when I stumbled across the League of Legends site while surfing. League of Legends or more commonly referred to as LoL is a tower pushing game where players take control of a champion and do battle with other players online. After installing the game and having a few matches I talked Nathan and Aidan into playing and we are now well and truly hooked. Soooo if anyone out there feels like playing with/against us just get in contact with us and we'll arrange a match.

Toshiba Qosmio x500
Recently purchased a Toshiba Qosmio x500 gaming laptop as my old laptop is on its deathbed. From what i've seen so far this Laptop has been an excellent buy. I have been running Crysis, Assassin's Creed and Heroes of Newerth all on "very high" settings and they have run smoothly and look great on the 18.4" screen. I had a problem with all my games crashing, but toshiba was very helpful and exchanged my laptop when i reported it. The only other problem has been aquiring a laptop bag for the hugemungus beast but found one on the toshiba website for about $120, so im gunna order it today.

I couldn't think of anything really to post about... Spent today procrastinating more about management... However... Would like to talk about some games I discovered:
The first is Darwinia, theres a multiplayer game that uses similiar methods I believe called Multiwinia, but I'm too cheap to buy it at the moment, maybe when I've got more money, lol.
Anyway Darwinia is really a game inside a game, you control, by not controlling, characters in a virtual reality world. While all a bit perplexing its quite addictive and you should all put out and help small teams like Introversion
and well, LOR (except we aren't as cool) and buy some of their stuff.
The other gem of theirs I've been playing substantially more is Uplink. Its one of those games where even though I've been caught a few times (I get impatient and greedy) I keep playing. I've found in scarily addictive, I'm sure you can beat it in one sitting if your patient and well, not greedy. It doesn't take much harddrive space and the required specs are pretty low. I couldn't get windowed mode to work in Uplink (but it works fine in Darwinia).
Anyways, Have Fun Ya'll.
PS. Go spend some money on Introversion games.
PPS. My dictionary decided it would be fun to tell me the correct spelling of "their" was "thier" my appologies for all prior blogs with this problem, my spelling and pronunciation is
PPPS. Google is a good spell checker.

Once you get past the fact that there are only a few variations of the same gametype, Tom Clancy's Endwar is a thrilling game that I enjoyed long into the night.
While I haven't really started the online experience (having only just renewed my Xbox Live subscription), the single player campaign was very enjoyable. Of course, you can't review Endwar without reviewing the control system.
For those that don't know most of Endwar is played with voice commands rather then with the controller. I'm sure it probably possible to play with only the controller, but I would rather not try (having failed the 2 minutes that my headset was unplugged- I picked up a wireless headset today though).
All in all a good game, probably one of the best I've played in a long time, 8.5/10.
Edit: Online is really bad in Australia. Thirty minutes and couldn't connect to a single game. To test connection after that tried GTAIV and Halo 3 with no problems.

Recently completed Fable 2. Its not really as good as the original I'm sorry to say... But I'd still advise you go out and buy a copy when it drops in price. Its not worth the $100 (or $120 for the limited edition) that they are charging in Australia though.
Overall a good game I suppose and the Co-Op is fun. I'll give it a 7/10 overall. The story and the dreadful music in parts really lets it down.
